Global technology leader Xiaomi and its partner Salcomp launched The Istanbul Avcılar factory which will have 5 million smartphone production capacity per year.
Aiming to make the most up-to-date innovative technologies accessible to everyone, Xiaomi, officially opened its fourth factory, where it will start production with its partner Salcomp. Middle East Chairman Ronnie Wang Xiaomi, Xiaomi Turkey Country Director Vincent Chang, Senior Vice President of Salcomp Travel Xue, Vice Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Head of Information Technologies and Communications Board Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu, Head of Presidency Investment Foreign Activities Department Furkan Karayaka, Head of Istanbul Investment Agency Nihat Narin, Avcılar Mayor Turan Hançerli and Avcılar District Governor Kemal İnan have attended the press conference.

Liu Shaobin , the representative of the People’s Republic of China Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Turkey congratulated the Xiaomi Group production activities in Turkey and wished to continue seamlessly. He shared his happiness about this investment’s ability to provide more momentum to high technology cooporation of Turkey and China. To the words of Shaobin; “This year the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Turkey. Over the past 50 years, we have achieved highly productive results thanks to the joint efforts of both parties. I hope both sides will evaluate 50 years of diplomatic relations between Turkey and China, to further strengthen cooperation and develop an opportunity to make new great contributions.” he continued.

Xiaomi Turkey Country Director Vincent Chang: “Becoming a local partner in Turkey, we are very happy that we started production in this market for us to see key task. We are proud too because we have to be in this country to provide employment opportunities for creating added value. Our goal is creating employment for blue and white collar of 2000 people in work area and to produce 5 million units of smartphones. In the entry segments , we will produce Redman 9C model in this factory. We aim to increase our MI Stores up to 100 in order to provide our services to all corners in Turkey. We are very grateful to the support of the ministeries since the beginning of the process. Likewise, since 2019, we would like to thank to our users to make us one of the most popular phone brands in Turkey ” he said.
Salcomp Senior Vice President Travel Xue said: “As Xiaomi we are building the latest technology production lines by rebuilding this idle factory. We are trying to make this facility a regional production center for Xiaomi smartphones. We believe we will accomplish great things in Turkey based on our global expertise for years. We are striving more and more every day to improve the service we provide, especially the training for our staff. We will increase the added value every year and in the first year of 200 million dollars will be created with this factory. Turkey’s leading phone brand Xiaomi’s Turkey trip will continue with new investments without slowing down.”
